Lawrence P. Kay, A.I.A. - President
Project Experience: Industrial Design: Mr. Kay has produced and managed the designs and Construction Administration of over 50 projects for Lockheed Martin. These projects range from an Advanced Material Development Center for the F-22, Engineering Test Facilities, and X-ray Labs, as well as flight simulator projects and corporate headquarters renovations and additions. Mr. Kay's extensive expertise in the area of Industrial Design includes the design and management of a one million square foot piston manufacturing plant for Mahle, Inc., located in Morristown , Tennessee . He also has experience with the design of meat processing, frozen food and warehouse distribution centers; and a clear understanding of the importance of the engineering coordination requirements with these project types. He is also well versed in the technical aspects of switching and data centers by completing projects for clie nts such as MCI. Laboratory Design: Mr. Kay has developed designs for SmithKline Beecham/Quest Diagnostics, National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Celltech Biologics Inc., Veterans Administration Hospital Laboratories and EPA Athens, Georgia. He has also produced designs for Georgia Scientific Testing and Research Foundation for Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as destructive and non-destructive engineering test facilities for Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems. Assembly, Civic, Historic Renovation and Education Facilities: Mr. Kay has preformed the design and project management on projects such as a Communication Training Complex for Air National Guard and a sports complex for McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He also designed the historic renovation of the 111 th Circuit Court of Appeals Building in Atlanta , Georgia as well as four projects for Cobb County Public Schools. Commercial/Retail: Mr. Kay has served as Chief Architectural Designer for The Kroger Company, a national food chain with over 1800 stores. In this position, his design, management and people skills enabled him to lead the development of dozens of retail prototypes that are now considered the standard of the industry. He has also provided prototype designs to the automotive retail industry for Chevrolet, Mazda and Hyundai and he has provided architectural consulting services to Miller-Zell, a national interior design firm that specializes in catering to the automotive retail market. Transportation: Mr. Kay served as design architect on the Chamblee MARTA Station, a $22M transportation project. He also served as design architect on the MARTA Service and Inspection facility for MARTA transport railcars. Clients:
